Hi everyone, my name is Namira Hasnalma Aisyah and im from 27 Senior High School class X Science 3. So today, I want to tell you about past tense and present perfect tense.

The past tense is a verb tense used for a past activity or a past state of being or past tense is an English tense that expresses a form a verb for events that have occurred. The simple past tense is used for actions that started and ended at a specific point in time. It is formed by adding “-ed” to the infinitive form of the verb.

For example like:

Positive

1.  I mailed the letter yesterday.

2. You asked me to finish the chores last night.

3. I sang the song yesterday.

Negative:

1. I didn't mailed the letter yesterday

2. You didn't asked me to finish the chores last night.

3. I didn"t sang the song yesterday.

Interrogative:

1. When did you mail the letter?

2. Did you asked me to finish the chores last night?

3. Did you sang the song yesterday?

You must always use the simple past when details about the time or place that an action occured are given or requested. We just use a past tense verb to make a sentence in the past tense. In conclusion the past tense usually have a time information like yesterday, last night and others that describe about something that already happen.

The formula Past tense:

Present Perfect tense

The present perfect is used to indicate a link between the present and the past. The time of the action is before now but not specified, and we are often more interested in the result than in the action itself. It used to describe about an action or situation that started in the past and continues in the present, an action performed during a period that has not yet finished, an repeated action in an unspecified period between the past and now, an action that was completed in the very recent past, expressed by 'just'and an action when the time is not important.

For example:

1. She has worked in the bank for five years.

2. We haven't seen her today.

3. Have you seen 'Gone with the Wind'?

4. Have you just finished work?

5. It has rained a lot this year.

The formula:

The conclusion of the text is, the past tense is to talk about something that already happen in the past and usually adding -ed and the time information is requested and the present perfect is to indicate a link between the past and present but the time is not specified, or we can tell that it talk about something that started in the past and continues in the present.
